During the 2 months maintenance shut down period of the 70m antenna. Workers hauled steel sections into position on the underside of the dish from the ground and then stitch wielded each section in place. Some sections required cutting to fit in place. After fitting and wielding the steel was painted. In addition to these works some panels that make up the dish were removed and replaced via rope access.
